June 5, 2011

kevin-garnettCeltics fans rejoice! Boston is back beating the Miami Heat 97-81. Kevin Garnett played well and unlike Game 1 and Game 2, he proves to everyone that he is still on shape. Paul Pierce had 27 points and Rajon Rondo who suffered an injured left elbow during the third quarter scored 6 points, 11 assists and three rebounds with 5 turnovers.

Rondo became tangled with Wade with 7:02 left in the third quarter and hyperextended his arm while falling to the ground dislocating his elbow. But the crowd cheered up and the Celtics team rejuvenated as Rondo returned near the end of the third quarter. Rondo then with 8:32 left in the game stole a pass intended for Wade and sprinted the length of the floor for a layup.

The Heat cut Boston’s lead to 13 points with five minutes left but yet another strong play in the paint by Garnett put the Celtics ahead 87-72 with 4:35 remaining in the game. Garnett had 14 points in that decisive period to give the Celtics a nine-point lead entering the fourth.

The Celtics outrebounded the Heat 39-36 and had seven more assists (27-20).
