Google Voice now has Blackberry and Android applications. Google Voice new applications is makes Google Voice number calling seamless.
Once Google Voice app is installed, when you call someone from your cell phone, the recipient will see your Google Voice number instead of your mobile number. Same thing applies to text messages, which in turn become accessible through your Voice account as well.
The apps also let you view call history, read your voicemail (through Voice’s transcription features), and make international calls. Finally, they’re also integrated with your phone’s existing address book, so getting up and running with them is painless.
Google Voice seems to bring serious competition with Skype, who also offers its own mobile apps, including one for iPhone. However, Skype calling is limited to WiFi, whereas the Google Voice apps should work anywhere you have a mobile connection. And, whereas the optimal use of Skype remains free user-to-user calls, Voice is positioning itself as the only phone number you’ll ever need (or want), and its mobile apps will be a key part of that.
