Ed McMahon is dead. Ed McMahon dies at the age of 86 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center earlier this morning. McMahon lost his battle with bone cancer and also suffered from pneumonia.
McMahon had been admitted to the hospital on Feb. 27, 2009 in extremely serious condition. At the time his publicist stated he was diagnosed with pneumonia
McMahon will always be remembered as the witty sidekick to Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, and as the host for TV’s long running Star Search in the 80s. One of McMahon’s last gigs was as spokesman for Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes.
When news came out that Ed McMahon is dead, many people are asking when did Johnny Carson Die? Well to answer the question, Johnny Carson died on January 23, 2005 of emphysema also in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Johnny Carson is known for hosting the Tonight Show for 30 years with Ed Mcmahon faithfully by his side almost always laughing at his corny jokes. Johnny will usually do some of his most famous routines such as Carnac the Magnificent where he would put an envelope up to his head and give an answer, and then open the envelope and read the question.
Ed McMahon is survived by his wife Pamela and five adult children. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his friends and family.
